Day 7, ValenciaWaking up at the second day in Valencia. Today's plan is to visit the science museum, a very futuristic designed building. Valencia:Gunilla checking the weather through our "City View" window. At least we understand that there is daylight. Mercado Central de Valencia:We start with a visit to the Mercado Central. It's a big impressive building. The building was erected the years 1914 to 1928. It's very nice but as usual a bit expensive, the same in Sweden's market places. Before this building it was an open air market here. The architectural style is Valencian Art Nouveau. More information about Mercado Central:
Placa de l'Adjuntament:When walking through the big square Placa de l'Adjuntament we could see the Clock Tower far away in the back ground. We think the tower stands on the building Sindicat Federal de Correus i Telecomunicacions. A telephone company ? Pont de l'Angel Custodi:After walking along the streets in the more modern area of Valencia we escape to the moat again. Take the stairs down at the bridge l'Angel Custodi. Follow the old river bed, pass by an enormous statue of fairy tale Gulliver and pass trough under the next bride, Pont del Regne. In the park there is a water tap, we cooled our hands with the water but didn't dare to drink it. Les Arts Valencia:It took 30 minutes to walk to here but now we are at the place we want to visit. These buildings you will see are fantastic with its futuristic design. It's like a star ship from Star Trek. Water is important in this park and has influenced the design. Ponte de Montolivet:Even the bridges here have this futuristic science fiction design. The pillars that hold the bridge, no grey boring concrete. The aft of the space ship. It's an opera house and it opened in 2005. More information about the opera house:
Hemisferic:We continue walking to investigate the other building at this place. This is a cinema with a hemispherical screen, it can project planetarium shows and others. More pools of water around the buildings. Caixa Forum, L'Agora:L'Agora building, for conferences, concerts etc. A 90 million Euro project to built. More information about the L'Agora building:
