Day 4, Alicante to BenidormLast day in Alicante, we have done everything that we want to do here and it's time to move on. Next stop will be Benidorm and we take the tram to that place. The tram has a station where we stay and half the cost compare to the train. The buses take the motor way which isn't so fun and no option this time. Luceros, Alicante:Waiting for the next tram that will take us to Benidorm and that without any change. After the Meracdo Central the tram leave the tunnel and come up to street level. Much better, now we know where we are. Benidorm isn't far away, from Alicante to Benidorm, only 45 km. We are very lucky that we took the tram, what great views we got. Benidorm:After less than an hour we are at Benidorm. Busy town with lot of traffic, but we stay in the central part of the town with streets without traffic by cars. More information about Benidorm:
Through the streets we walk to our hotel, a ten minutes walk from the tram station. Port Vista Oro, our hotel. What does it mean, the Golden Gate, or ? We don't understand Spanish so well yet. Balco del Mediterran:After we installed us on the hotel we took a walk down to the Balco del Mediterran. As in other old cities we have visited they have rebuilt the old defense tower to a tourist attraction. Here is beautiful, we sat down on a bench and enjoyed our stay here. It's out of the tourist season and they do a lot of paint job in the town now. Nice little bar with views that we visited later. Benidorm is a long beach in both Northern and Southern direction. During the summer it must be very crowded with people here. Balco del Mediterran:We walk back to the Balco del Mediterran to lock for the ruins of the old fortress. A lot of canons are setup here. The ruins, we expected maybe a little more than this. A lower terrace in level with the ocean. There are a lot of people that visiting this place. The Northern beach. A rest at the Pub we saw earlier, a toast and something to drink, and views of course. More information about Balco del Mediterran:
Map of Benidorm, our hotel is to the left of the big park. We take the stairs down to the beach to have a look. The beach with the Balco del Mediterran in the background. Park d'Elx:We have never seen so many white pigeons gathered in one place before. The street behind follow the beach and here you find a lot of restaurants. |

Platja del Mal Pas:We got a little bit confuse, some Spanish words are so different to what we are used to. Another tourist explained for us that it's a variant of Spanish, the Valencias. These practical vehicles we saw a lot of. They could be rented for 20 Euros per day, but today we are too young for that vehicle. Platja de Llevant:A walk along the Northern beach. Benidorm was very popular in the 1970s, today we see a lot of old people, maybe the same people who where here 50 years ago. We like Benidorm and understand why it's so popular. Parc de L'Aiguera:When we later walked back to our hotel we took the street through the park. The park goes all the way up to the tram station, but our hotel is to the left at the lower area of the park. More information about the Parc de L'Aiguera (only Spanish):
Back in our room, sitting on the balcony and relaxing for a while and drawing plans where to eat dinner. We took the street outside our hotel direct down to the beach, street Avenida del Doctor Oits Llorca. Here we could sit protected from the winds and have views over the ocean. Do I have to mention that we like this ? One more visit to the Balco de Terran in the dark. Now there are no people here, but the views is beautiful even during the dark time. Back to our hotel and rest. We have breakfast included at this hotel which is nice for us. |
