Planning for a round trip in Southern Germany:

The round trip we did in Northern Germany 2022 was exiting, now 2023 we are planning a similar train tour in Southern Germany. We have read that Germany will sell these train/bus tickets even 2023 with start in May. They will not cost 9 Euro this year but 49 Euro and last for one month. Still very cheap.

Germany use Euro so the money will not be a problem and the internet by the smartphone is free for us in EU.

An earlier visit in Southern Germany:

I visited Southern Germany already 1988 by car with friends. A great memory for me, you can follow that trip here: Germany 1988. From this and the last year's travel in Northern Germany we have got a lot of experience which we have use of now. This time we don't go by car, we go by train.

	After we had driving through Sweden and Denmark we came to Germany. The Northern part we just drive through until we came to Wurzburg. Our first stop at an old town, Wurzburg, 1988. On our new tour 2023 we will come to the third day, maybe.
Rothenburg ob der Tauber 1988, very nice memories from this town. We hope for a stop at this place even on this new trip 2023, it will be a side step from the main rail way.
	We drove the car all the way to Vienna in Austria. After that back to Germany. One of the last stops in Germany, Heidelberg. Then Denmark, Sweden and we where back home to Stockholm, was it 18 days on the roads ?

An overview how we think our travels by train in Southern Germany will be:

If you are in hurry the map tells us the we can do this 1400 km long trip in just in 17 hours by car. We estimate it to take from 18 to 23 days by train, lot of time to relax and visit interesting places. For the details, see below.

The details:

When travel by train we can only follow the way where there are rails. We have started to list interesting stays along a possible trip. We plan for a three weeks travel, but if needed we can add one more week.

Route 1: Possible Stops along our trip:

We take a flight from Stockholm to Karlsruhe. I have always thought that Karlsruhe was a boring industry town. But after we have looked at YouTube videos we found it to be very nice. Karlsruhe will be our first stay.

These are the stops we start with in our planning. These are only the big ones where there are a railway station. Between them there are a lot of nice small towns. Now we will go through all of them and see what's interesting for us. The stops as it looks for the moment:

The first part is 250 km, from 4 to 5 days.

When leaving Munich we have more than one alternative. Maybe Ulm and Augsburg are good choose for us. From Lindau we follow the lake Bodensee. We end at Offenburg near the French border. The stops as it looks for the moment:

Third part is 570 km, from 4 to 6 days.
