Day 11, Rovinj, walking in old town: |

Waking up in the morning, making breakfast, then some ideas what to do this extra day we booked to stay in this wonderful old town. It's almost like to be in the paradice. Rovinj, morning walk:
We start by sneaking around the nearby alleys. Are there any alleys that we missed during yesterday's walks? 
A crossing street has the restaurants we saw at yesterday's evening. Rovinj Museum:
We have read about the museum and today we plan to visit it to learn something about the history of this place.
Oh no, it's closed due to works. 
Our spare plane, make a visit at the marina South of the old town. Before we reach it we found this old well. 
Gunilla thinks a coffee would be a good idea and we made a stop here. The shipyard:
At the end of the old town there is this small shipyard. An old wooden boat get its hull restored, we can feel a smell of plastic padding. The marina:
At the marina, it's not any small boats here, we don't think its the local people that have their boats here. It must belong to the people living in the big building behind us. |

At the end of the jetty, in front of us on the right is the entrance to the marina. In the background Rovinj old town. The island Otok Sveta Katarina:
The island Otok Sveta Katarina. It's a big hotel at that island but looks empty those days. 
Walking back and now see the shipyard from the other side. A big crane which doesn't look to be used, more an attraction for tourist to look at. 
This must to be the mechanism to rotate the crane with. 
The shipyard has space for five boats. 
On the way back we found this photo point. Just stay behind and hold the camera in the opening. 
And you get this view of Rovinj old town. 
It's time to sit down and relax with something to eat, looking in the alleys where we live but decided to go to the harbor. |
Yes, this was a nice place, ice cream and a view to the sea. 
Five minutes later, emptiness. 
Walk into the alley at the North side of the hill. It's the street Ul Vladimira Svalbe we walking on. 
An opening behind the buildings, just the sea, no pier were to anchor boats, what use of it ? 
Follow another street to the end, here is it beautiful with view over the sea. The small islands we see are Otocic Figarola and Figarlica. 
Maybe this building will be restored in the future to be a hotel with a view ? 
There is no wrong with the view from here.

We didn't see this light house at night, could have been a nice experience. 
4 o'clock pm and the Sun comes lower, some tourists in the boat take a trip around the old town. 
Walking down to the rocky beach. On the way down, lot of plat forms with tables belonging to the restaurant above. Little Church of the Cross:
A small church on the cliff, Little church of the Cross, built 1592. 
We found this walkway along the Southeast side of old town nicest, we pick a restaurant with the nicest view. 
First water and then ... 
A plate with meat and pommes and another with tomatoes and mozzarella chees. We share these two dishes, eaten often and no need for more. 
Everywhere we see this small metal discs on the streets. Street astronomer:
Now it's dark, when walking along the harbor we meet for the first time in our life a street astronomer. It's Josip who has taken his big telescope to old town.
