9: Telescope unbalance

Now when most of the accessories is mounted on the telescope I noticed that it's very front heavy. The triple lens in a APO telescope has a lot of mass. Something must be done to this because it cause some problem.


Telescope front heavy:

The front dew shield weights some and made it even more front heavy. I have to move the tube rings with the dove tail towards the front of the telescope to get it in balance. But with that all the accessories I had mounted on the front stand must be moved backwards. The guide telescope have a clearance of 1 mm and the future goal is to have an off-axis guider system, then the guide telescope will be removed. If the dew shield is drown all the way back until it hit the tube ring it's still missing 25 mm. My problem is that my small sport car's trunk is only 800 mm wide and the telescope 795 mm fully retracted.

I had to design two new back end brackets. The one with the two holes will hold both the Raspberry computer and the triple DC/DC converter. With a new tube ring for the guide telescope I can move it 25 mm backwards.

With the accessories mounted, more compact now. I by mistake destroyed the mini hub I had. The one here will not be kept. I have ordered a new and now a USB3 with 7 ports.

The focus driver is now mounted vertical. The Raspberry behind and the white cable is the power for it, 5 volt at 3 ampere.

In middle, the Raspberry cage. Today it's a Raspberry RPi 4, I hope there is space for the latest model, RPi 5.

To make the telescope more back heavy I designed new tube rings for the guide telescope. By this I could move the guide telescope 50 mm backwards. Guide telescope and camera weights 1 kg.

Guide telescope mounted in the new tube rings. One more positive thing about this is that now I can move the dew shield all the way back to the main telescopes tube ring. Still missing about 25 mm, to solve that I must move the telescope tube rings even more backwards.

I'm not sure if the main telescope's focuser is in correct focus position, 25 mm out now. If I have to move it more outwards the balance problem will be less. The simplest solution is to add some weight back here. Or maybe a new camera has more mass.
