My travel in Europe:
|
One week by car at island of Sardinia, 2017
Stintino to Alghero, day 3: |
Stintino:We took our breakfast at the terrace with view over the ocean. This was a very nice place to start the day with. A last minute on our balcony. When we checked out the receptionist told us that this was the last day of this season. If we just could have days like these at home in Sweden it would be great, and here they close it because they feel it's cold! La Pelosa:Today our plan is to go north to the "James Bond" beach La Pelosa.
Now we have come to the northern part of the beach.
After this we now head south for Alghero with some stops after the road. |

Along our way at the western coast there is a ghost town, Argentiera, former a silver mine. Looks exiting but we skipped that to have more time in Alghero old city during the day.
Pischina Salida:Before we got to Alghero we make a visit at the Parco Naturale Porte Conte. Our plan was to visit the Neptune Grotto, but it was crowded with cars and we couldn't find anywhere to park our car.
On the way back we could park the car here and have a view out here. To the right in background you see the city Alghero. This place is also called Riviera del Corallo.
The village down there is Pischina Salida, see the cliffs on the left side. We climbed up to the cliff and found this view, fantastic and what a deep blue color.
Just before we arrive to Alghero we found this beach along the road Via Lido.
|
Alghero:We had big expectations on the old city of Alghero, a short walk from where we lived we found the old city wall.
Porta a Terra Tower, once a part of the defense wall.
The defense walls was built in the 16th century. Inside the city walls we found a lot of restaurants and shops. It's not a big city, 2 hour walks and we had passed most of the old city's main streets and alleys. Crossing through the wall and we come to the harbor. Lot of big boats to look at.
|
Torre de la Polvorera, weapons and gun powders arsenal. Here we are at the top of the defense wall, the wall is very wide and follow the city all the way along the coast. Did they used cast weapons like this against ships?
As usual in old cities there are a lot of nice alleys to walk at.
Now we look at the outer part of the city, we didn't walk that long, we stayed in the old part. |
The last tower before we enter the old city center again.
After a day of walking we had to take a rest and get some food, we ordered a typical Italian pasta dinner.
A second walk later in the evening. In the beginning we had plans to stay two nights in Alghero, very nice town but after one day we felt that we had seen everything and planned for new places for tomorrow. Alghero visit ends with an ice cream. During the evening we booked hotel in the city Oristano. On the way to that place we shall visit a Roman archaeological excavation at Tharros.
