Chrysler Crossfire
Front Disc Brake replacement

This is one information page of my collection of what I have repaired on my Crossfire.

Note:
You should not do any repair on your car if you don't have enough experience and knowledge! You use this information at your own risk! Don't blame me if something goes wrong.

Content:

I believe this information must also be useful to most Mercedes C, CLK and SLK manufactured from year 1997 to maybe 2004. And if you have a Mercedes SLK R170 with a 320 engine the chassis are almost identical.

Note:
These are the car's brakes, very important everything is done correct. You should not do any repair on your car if you don't have enough experience and knowledge!

Now the fun starts, to reassemble all the new brake parts.

The old disc brake to the right I could have been used for another 10000 km, but need anyway to take it apart to do something about the leaking protect cap and then it's not much extra work to replace the disc brakes at the same time.

I replaced the old bolts with the new ones I got together with the roller bearings I bought earlier. Reinstall the brake caliper holder arm, these bolts should be tightened at very high torque. Look in your service manual how much torque you need for your car. You should also put some grease on the sliding surfaces, it's a special high temperature grease. Reinstall the hub (which you normally don't have to remove) and the new disc brake, don't forget the small hex screw that fixes the disc brake.

What a difference look the new disc brake give, a shame that I didn't paint the brake caliper. In my case I also had to clean the roller bearing and put some new grease into it.

Note:
When changing the disc brakes you shall always also replace the brake pads.
