Chrysler Crossfire
Front Disc Brake replacement

This is one information page of my collection of what I have repaired on my Crossfire.

Note:
You should not do any repair on your car if you don't have enough experience and knowledge! You use this information at your own risk! Don't blame me if something goes wrong.

Content:

I believe this information must also be useful to most Mercedes C, CLK and SLK manufactured from year 1997 to maybe 2004. And if you have a Mercedes SLK R170 with a 320 engine the chassis are almost identical.

Note:
These are the car's brakes, very important everything is done correct. You should not do any repair on your car if you don't have enough experience and knowledge!

4, Loosen the disc brake:

One problem that can arise here is that the disc brake can be very rusty and difficult to remove.

First you must loosen the small 5 mm hexagon bolt. It fixes the rotator against the holes to the wheel bolts.

Now the real problem starts, how to loosen the disc brake from the hub. It's very much rust here that hold the parts together. I took a knife to remove all the rust from the joint. Still I couldn't remove the disc brake.

I had to remove the whole hub from the axis, turned it up side down to the ground with the wheel bolts inserted and hammer on the disc brake from backside, then it came loose. As you see it have come a lot of dirt into the roller bearing and now I had to clean it. It was also some water inside here from the dust cap that didn't hold it tight.
