My travel in Europe:
Madeira, a Portuguese island, 2019

Day V, Santa Cruz:

The fifth day we took a bus tour to the small coast village Santa Cruz, it's close to the air port where we landed a couple of days ago.

Funchal:

We started the morning with a walk down to the house that burnt down yesterday evening. We was a bit surprised to see the house still there.

Once again on a bus going over the hills, now towards Santa Cruz. Beautiful views from the bus. It's about 18 km between Funchal and Santa Cruz, it takes 40 minutes by bus and 3.70 Euro.

Santa Cruz:

Get of the bus and have our first impression of Santa Cruz, looks nice already at the bus station.

The church Igreja de Sao Salvador is the first building we see when we walk into the town. Opposite to it is a park.

We have already read about all the restaurants they have in this small town, now we see them.

Not more then 4 minutes walk down to the harbor in slow pace.

We sit down here for a while to enjoy the view.

Out there is the ship Santa Maria, maybe they have a dolphin safari.

We follow the coast along the harbor to the East.

One of the canals from which the water from the mountains flows into the ocean.

Maybe an old defense wall.

In the background, the green part with a bridge in front. It's the airport, an alarm sounded and after 5 minutes a aircraft took off.

I can read above that they call it one of the most dangerous airports in the world, hm ...

Longer then this we didn't come, a pool with no swimming guest in it. The tourist season hasn't started yet.

Back to old center and looking at the gardens.

A new walk in the other directsion, to the Eastern part of Santa Cruz.

Parque de Santa Catarina:

This is the other canal that flow through the town.

Time for us to leave Santa Cruz, a bit confusing which bus to take back to Funchal.

We sitting here at the bus station and waiting, this was wrong bus, but SAM is correct.

Back in Funchal and a cake.
