Day 5, By train from Krakow to Bratislava:Today our skills in traveling shall be tested, could we managed to go by train from Krakow to Budapest ? There are not many information signs in English so it will be difficult, and we are not used to travel by train either. Google Map over Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia: |
Krakow:The train are not leaving Krakow until 1 pm, we took it slowly. A last look at our hostel that has been our home for four days. Maybe it look a bit grey, but we like it. Behind the wall there is a small park to sit in which we did. This day we start with a walk to the Wisla river Western of Krakow old town. The upside down house was funny to see. Krakow Glowny:After we had eaten some lunch we go to the railway station, we don't want to be late. Uwaga po sygnale odjazdu wsiadanie zabronione, okey, but what does it mean ? Attention after departure signal prohibited entry. Krakow Glowny is a big railway station with a lot of railway tracks, are we standing on the correct platform ? The signs of this train say something about Krakowie, that is where we are now. That was wrong train, here comes our train. It is rolling in to the railway station and we enter the blue / yellow wagon. The clock is 1 pm. Now the train starts and slowly roll out from the railway station. We see rows of old trains lined up on the side tracks. Some are quite rusty, probably they are not used in traffic, they are more like spare trains or spare parts. It doesn't take many minutes until we make the first stop. I try to take a photo of every station we stop at, but this one I missed the sign with the name at. |

At last, we have arrived to Bratislava, more than one hour late. Our hosts have been standing here for a long time waiting for us, I understand, but we had sent several text messages from the smartphone that we were arriving late. They drive us in their car to the apartment. The apartment is large and everything we need is there. We will stay here for two days. We have today traveled 450 km, visited three countries, all this in 8 and a half hour, not bad. It was very interesting to see the countryside of the countries.
