Chrysler Crossfire
Checking the rear springs

This is one information page of my collection of what I have repaired on my Crossfire.

Note:
You should not do any repair on your car if you don't have enough experience and knowledge! You use this information at your own risk! Don't blame me if something goes wrong.

It's very dangerous to work with the springs. A compressed spring has a lot of power, you can be killed if you do it in a wrong way. Let the workshop do it if you are not a specialist !

Content:

If you have a Mercedes SLK R170 with a 320 engine it's almost exact the same.

Note:
You have to work with critical parts when doing work on suspension. Only do this if you have enough knowledge !

Now I inspect the rear spring in detail on the right side.

Rear spring right side:

Checking the spring, it's looks okay with no damage. I also count the number of revolution it has, 8.5.

Now I investigate the upper end of the spring with the endoscope.

The arrow point to the spring pad, a piece of rubber mounted between the spring and the chassi, even this looks to be okay.

Another view of the spring pad, maybe it has been compressed a bit and cause the car to be a little bit lower on this side.

If I later take this rear end apart I will install new spring pads.

Next step is to compare this side with the left side spring at rear.
