Here I have collected three of my trips to Nynäshamn, two of them by steam train. |
1, Steam trains travel:Old technology like steam locomotives are exiting. Once a year there is possible to travel by steam train from Stockholm City to Nynäshamn. It happens in Christmas time and at the harbor in Nynäshamn there is a lot of Christmas celebrations. Google Map over the railway from Stockholm City to Nynäshamn:From Stockholm City to Nynäshamn by steam train, Sweden 2005 |
Stockholm City train terminal:First sight of the steam locomotive. What a lot of smoke !
Very impressive entrance, like it ! Steam trains isn't the same as electric trains, much more exiting! At Wikipedia you find more information about Stockholm City's train station:
On the way:On the way out from Stockholm city we pass by the House of Nobility. At Wikipedia you find more information about the House of Nobility:

Nynäshamn:When moving from one wagon to another you have to pass by this walk over. Capacity: 0.1 tons of coal, 4 m3 water. I think this is the wagon where the heat is generated for the carriages. Parking brake I think.

There is also information about when they plan train trips like this. The steam locomotive is prepared to go back to Stockholm City. Now they have turned around the locomotive. There are a lot of wagons preserved and behind is a big diesel locomotive. Some security discussion before starting the travel back. |
I don't remember exactly, but I think I took the ordinary community train back home. At Wikipedia you find more information about Nynäshamn's train station:
