It's an impressive big building. The guided tour took five hours ! We are maybe not very interested in old oil paintings, but this was very exiting. Just to come so close to the paintings so you can see every detail of them. It was a big surprise that the paintings wasn't behind glass windows as protection. I'm sure just only of these paintings are worth millions of dollars. However, steady Russian women watched the art so they were in safe hands. More to read about the Winter Palace at Wikipedia:
The weather was very bad today, that was sad for there were so much to see in this town. We took a walk with the guided group to a restaurant for lunch. The square is the Palace square. More to read about the Palace Square at Wikipedia:

The clock ticking, we have ben here 5.5 hours now. Typical Russian churches with its towers. For a while the rain almost stop and we can take our cameras out and take some photographs. In the center of the memorial park you find the Eternal Flame. |
From the park we can see the Saint Michael's Castle, a former royal residence. We crossing the bridge over the river Neva.
