Riga:

From Stockholm where we live we can take a ferry to the coast city Riga in Lativa.

The ferry anchor in the harbor of Riga. Just a short walk to the old city.

The tower belongs to Riga Castle.

This time we have brought a friend with us, Jan. The square in center of Riga, Doma Laukums.

It's is a sunny day which invite us for long walks.

Around the old city we have the canal Pilsetas, part of the defense of the city.

We now leave the canal for the moment and walk back into the old city.

The church St. Peter.

The house of the Blackheads at Riga Town Hall Square. This house was bombed to a ruin during the WW II, rebuilt as late as 1996.

On the canal there are old wooden boats with round trips.

We stayed for three days in Riga with one day with an excursion to the resort of Jurmala. The last day we took a walk down to the market, old markets are always interesting to see.

We walked back to the nice old wooden boats we had seen the day before. We want to see if there is a chance to take a boat tour on the canal.

Yes, there where tour on the canal today.

We could read that one of these boats came from Sweden, it was bought from Stickan Andersson, the ABBA group.

maybe the boat tour took one hour, lot of beautiful places along the canal to look at.

Back once again in old town of Riga.

Hotel Enterbergs. Nice looking old style hotel, but we stayed at a modern hotel at the border of old city.

Nice pub decorated with big barrels.

Thirsty of all long walking.

One more part of the old city wall.

As said before, this city is very green with all its parks.

Latvian National Opera, beautifully placed close to the canal.
