Day III: Local bus to Parque Rural de Anaga:Today we decided to take the local bus to a nearby Park, the Parque Rural de Anaga. We are very skilled now to understand the local buses, how to find them and how to pay. Much easier then the tourist bus tours you can find and you save a lot of money too. From the local bus we get a view into the peoples daily life, that is something we miss when going by tourist buses. Google Map: Parque Rural de Anaga, the bus took us bit further than you can see here on the map. San Cristobal de la Laguna:The bus from Puerto de la Cruz take us to San Cristobal de la Laguna. From here we take another local bus to the park. The town looks interesting but there was no time to take a walk around here. Here we get a glimpse of it to the left. We must concentrate us on the park and the bus will arrive soon. While we waiting for the bus we got this view, it must be the University that we have read about. Now the bus has arrived and we rush back to the bus station. At Wikipedia you find more information about San Cristobal de La Laguna:
The park isn't far away but the roads are narrow up the mountain and the bus driver have to drive slowly. Parque Rural de Anaga:When we arrive to the park we took a walk around to plan how we shall proceed. We have seen on maps that there are small roads down to the beaches, but today it's a bit slippery because of rain and the guard didn't recommends us to take those walks. The views over the mountains are gorgeous. After a while we found another walking route, it end along the road that we came with the bus, practical, we walk as long we feel it's ok and then take the bus home. Google Map: Bird view over the Parque Rural de Anaga. Long time ago this small roads was used by the local people when they walk between the villages. Nowadays more for tourists like us. |

A viewpoint, down there to the right is the capital city, Santa Cruz. Now the path begins to lean really downhill. Walking in the jungle like Indiana Jones.
Down in the valley we find a water pond, must be where the farmers take the water to their crops. |
Back to the road and the bus stop isn't far away, maybe this is the village Las Mercedes. Puerto de la Cruz:We didn't take the bus all the way back, we stopped close to where we stayed last time. From here we took a walk down the alleys and back to our hotel. Back in the hotel, doesn't it look very cozy?
Dinner in the evening, it began to rain a lot, but it was not cold and we just sat at our table. We looked at all people running around to find some protection for the rain.
