Anti theft alarm

This is one information page of my collection of what I have repaired on my Crossfire.

Note:
You should not do any repair on your car if you don't have enough experience and knowledge! You use this information at your own risk! Don't blame me if something goes wrong.

Note:
You have to work with the electric parts. Disconnect the battery, the negative terminal ! When disconnecting the battery the alarm and radio will be reset, be sure to have any codes that's needed!

Chrysler Crossfire, Anti theft alarm

4, Hood switch:

Looking in the schematics to find which sensor that's wrong. The two door sensors turn on/off the interior light so I suppose they are okay. The light switch in the glow compartment doesn't turn on the light. If the bulb is broken and the switch always on it could be the problem. But I start to investigate the hood switch, it always has looked a bit broken.

Under the hood:

When checking the hood sensor I found that it hasn't any cable attach to it. Is it that easy, the cable is earthed somewhere, but very strange I couldn't find the cable. I found later that this switch is not for the alarm, according to the schematics the correct one sits inside the hood lock.

Now it had been very convenient if I had know the codes for the switches that the OBD reader cane read out. But couldn't find them anywhere I looked.

I took away the switch that doesn't was in use.

The real hood switch:

From the Crossfire forum and the schematics I now know that the hood switch is placed inside this lock mechanism, and it isn't replaceable. To reach the connector it must be taken apart from below.

Four Torx screws hold the grill in place. The grill is made by plastic and fragile. When the 4 screws are out, pull the grill towards the front gently, there a couple of tabs that lock it in the bottom.

I hold the camera behind to see how it looks like. There is a plastic protection around the lock mechanism.

The bracket for the two horns must be removed, at least it make it easier. 10 mm socket.

To remove the plastic shield, pull away these two "hats" with a flat screw driver. Under there are a two lock tabs, pull it aside gently and the shield goes down a little bit..

You must also unlock these tabs to make it possible to lower the shield down enough.

When holding down the shield I can see the switch and the connector to it. It has a lock on the backside, see below how to open it.

Press on this plastic arm and it open the lock. Now I can test the alarm, I did, but no, the siren still goes on. I suppose that the switch is open when the hood is down, it's the normal and it looks like that in the scematics.

Assembling it together again:

Assemble the grill and mounted it where it should be. In the bottom there are 6 tabs that insert into the front of the car. Not so easy to get all of them in place correct.

I used a long screw driver that I pushed against the plastic tab to get it in correct position.
