M106 2014-03-09, 500 mm focal length

M106 galaxy 2014
Date : 2014-03-09
Time (UT) : 21:47 to 00:40

Lens/telescope : Pentax 500 mm f/4.5 (set to f/4.5)
Corrector/Barlow : Builtin in the lens
Field (FOV) : 4.1x2.7 degree, before cropping
Filter : none
camera : Canon 5D
Film/CCD : Raw
Exp. time : 20x30 seconds, iso1600
Image process tool : AstroImageJ, Fitswork, Irfanview
Processing :  level, cal flat, dithering no bias dark noise filter
Weather : clear sky
Site : Sweden, Stockholm, Hagsätra. Bortle class 9
Comment : This is the oldest photo I have on the M106 galaxy. It was taken with a big camera lens, a Pentax 500 mm f/4.5. Compare this lens with the new TS APO triple lens with field flattener. The new one has much better color handling and almost no vignetting (on full frame sensor) which was heavy on this Pentax lens.
