Chrysler Crossfire
Wheels and Tires

This is one information page of my collection of what I have repaired on my Crossfire.

Note:
You should not do any repair on your car if you don't have enough experience and knowledge! You use this information at your own risk! Don't blame me if something goes wrong.

Content:

Note:
Even if the Chrysler Crossfire and Mercedes SLK R170 share the chassis the wheels are very different. Much smaller size on the Mercedes. You use all this information at your own risk. There are different rules in different countries how you are allowed to change the tire and wheel sizes. Take advice from a specialist before you buy / change anything !

2, Wheels and Tires, rear installation:

After the winter is over is it time now to install the new rear wheels.

To me the new wheels looks much heavier. I placed the old wheel with tire on the scale: 23.2 kg.

The new wheel and new tire: 24.9 kg. The old tire is worn out so the weight is about the same. Still a bit surprise the wheels are that heavy. Together 100 kg, that is 1/14 of the total weight of the car.

With the new wheels installed at the rear. I like the style of the old wheels and it took a long time find new wheels with a similar style.

Left wheel, it's a lot of space around the wheel, no risk that it hit the fenders, arms or springs. I did a slow test drive and after a while I did a test over some road bumps. I already of course did a lot of measurement before to be sure these wheels fit and consulted the Crossfire forum.

From behind, now the wheels looks to belong to a car like this.

It was really time to get new tires, the old ones lasted about 30'000 km.
