2. Melted H7 lamp connector:![]() One of my H7 bulb got a short cut and got very hot. The connector to the H7 socket melted and now I have to repair it. ![]() This is what's left of the socket and I need to replace it now. Investigations of H7 socket:![]() I took some photos of a H7 socket that still is functional. ![]() The one that melted sit at a very difficult position so it's easier to take photos of this one. ![]() There are two female connectors in the socket. ![]() The wire attach in a 90 degree angle. ![]() I don't want to cut the wires, I have to find a new socket where I can transfer the connectors to. New sockets:![]() I search the internet for spare parts. I found these two with attached cables. ![]() The left one has a ceramic socket witch could handle high temperatures, but it's straight and difficult to implement. The black one to the right has a 90 degree socket which is easier to install. ![]() With my tool set I can release the connectors from the socket. I use the one to the right. ![]() Here how it looks like dismantled. The rectangular holes grip a hook in the socket, not exactly the same design as the original ones. Install the new socket:![]() Some small adjustment of the socket and it fit. Maybe I put a drop of glue to hold the connectors safely in place. ![]() On this photo it looks like that it is a lot of space, but in reality it's very difficult reach. The cables are very short too. |
