Bus travel in Cappadocia in Turkey, day 7 to 8:
After the breakfast I stood here on the balcony, I thinking of what wonderful days we have had down here. Now it's just one day left. First we go for a lunch just outside Antalya. Then we have 5 hours of free time and we will take a walk in Antalya old town. Our second last hotel in the golf area at Kadriye, a few kilometers east of Antalya. Lunch with water view, actually, we had the Mediterranean Sea under our feet. The restaurant's specialty was fish dishes. A little bit chilly today, other days had been much warmer. Just around the corner we have Antalya old city.
Cats still follow me. Just relaxing after the lunch and waiting for the bus that will take us to Antalya's old town. |

Antalya old townHere we stand on the cliff and looking out over the old town. It's not very big and a 5 hours walk will let us se all we want..
Our guide inform us of what to look after in the old town, then we was free to go down there. Both our guides were excellent and had got us lots of exciting information this week. They take care of their fine old city.
Part of the city wall and defense tower. Antalya Clock Tower. There are many clock towers built, here is information of one of them:
Tekeli Mehmet Pasha Mosque.

City wall to the right, it feels as we are outside the walls when we climb down to the harbor. Lot of nice places to relax at with a cup of coffee or a drink. The small harbor with lot of big wooden boats. You see the old city walls in background.
|
There is still active fishing at Antalya old harbor.
All the popular pirate ships, we didn't go for a tour this time, but had done it later.
It's the small fine details that make a city feeling attractive, they know how to make it here.

Hadrian's gate, a relic from the Roman Empire. Could this Hadrian be the same man who built the Hadrian wall in Scotland?
The Korkut Mosqeu or Kesik Minare (Broken Minaret)
|
Now we have to go back to the bus, the last hotel is waiting for us.

The old town walk of Antalya was the grand finale of our one week bus tour in Turkey. On the plane on the way back home after a week of adventures. I hope this travel narrative will inspire you to do a similar trip in Turkey. Unfortunately, it has become very unsettled in Turkey in recent years, but I'm sure it calm down with time. The END
