Chrysler Crossfire
Rubber bushings and ball joints

This is one information page of my collection of what I have repaired on my Crossfire.

Note:
You should not do any repair on your car if you don't have enough experience and knowledge! You use this information at your own risk! Don't blame me if something goes wrong.

Content:

If you have a Mercedes SLK R170 with a 320 engine it's almost exact the same.

Note:
You have to work with critical parts when doing work on suspension. Only do this if you have enough knowledge !

Chrysler Crossfire, ball joint

5, Checking the rubber bushings and the ball joints at rear end, part 1:

The rear axle of the Crossfire is much more complicated than earlier axels of American cars I have had. It has five arms on each side that hold the rear axle in correct position. If you compare with the front suspension each A-arm is divided in two separate arms, and then it's also a fifth arm that increase the stability. These five separate control arms gives better control of the geometry compare to twin A-arms.

There are control arms everywhere at the rear. This lower control arm pointing towards the front, outer end.

This rubber bushing maybe look a bit bad, but I couldn't feel any flex in it. The lower lower control arm has a plastic shield on the lower side, maybe to reduce the wind resistance or only as a protection from dirt.
