One train museum is the Nynäshamn railway museum. Google Map over the railway from Älvsjö to Nynäshamn railway museum:From Älvsjö to Nynäshamn railway museum, Sweden 2007 |
Nynäshamn's Railway museum:![]() We took the train from Älvsjö station to get to the museum. Already at the outside of the railway museum we see the supply they have of spare parts. ![]() At one place there are a lot of wagons, maybe something they plan to renovate in the future. ![]() The entrance to the railway museum. ![]() In one of the garage we found this steam locomotive. Information about steam locomotive SJ E 1189:
![]() Manufactured already in year 1912. Operating weight is impressive, 70.2 tons. Top speed 90 km/h and they built 99 of them. Information about steam locomotive SJ B 1136:

![]() Inside one of the wagons, looks like the one I traveled with two years earlier. ![]() We got the opportunity to see what's under the train. The chassi is built of heavy steel parts. Here you can see how the brakes are constructed. |

Workshop:![]() To have the trains working they need a workshop to repair broken parts. ![]() This steam locomotive looks to be much older. The sign SJ stands for Statens Järnvägar (Goverment's Railroads). Information about steam locomotive SJ N 1169:
![]() One of the workers told us that they have to replace the tubes in this boiler. A very dirty and time consuming work, and they work for free ! ![]() The black smiths place, the smithy. My grand father was a black smith so it's always interesting to see the environmont where they work. ![]() The machine on the wheels is a welding machine. ![]() A lathe and other things that is hard to see in the dark. ![]() A sign warning us for the trains, you enter this area on your own risk. ![]() Warning petroleum product, 12.7 tons flammable liquids. |
![]() One more train carriage, need some new paint. ![]() Before painting the rust must be removed. It's like my old cars I had, just bigger. ![]() The garages and the turning platform in front. I have seen one of them in work earlier, it was powered by steam. ![]() Spare part wheels, lot of them. ![]() Even more of them. Notice the balance weight that is welded to the rim of the wheel. ![]() A big diesel locomotive hide under the cover. For sure the one I saw two years ago at Nynäshamn's railway station. Information about diesel locomotive SJ T21 90 och 108:
![]() They have their own sign NJM here, Nynäshamn Railroad Museum. ![]() More work to do, where do they get all people for this work to be done ? |
![]()
![]() Trains version of bumpers. ![]() There are not only trains here, we found an old bus in one of the garage. Looks like them I traveled with in the 1960s. Is it a Volvo or a Scania ? Looking closer to the sign and it says: A Scania Vabis VB 62, built 1953 and it take 38 passengers. It was used until 1959. ![]() Inside the bus, very familiar environment for me. ![]() In the big workshop hall there is an intensive work to maintain one of the locomotives. An exiting day, and I think my sister's son who joined me this day felt that too. Information about electric locomotive SNJ ÄF 10:
