Introduction to Göta LandsvägIn Stockholm where I live there is an old road that have a history of thousen of years, its name is Göta Landsväg. My parents lived on that road in the 1950s, that part of the road has today the street name Långsjövägen. I have followed this road from Stockholm city to Salem many times. A distance of about 20 km. In May, 2019 the Brännkyrka member club had a guided walk this old road and we participated. More information about Brännkyrka Hembygdsförening:
The photos you find here are from any different walks and bicycling along the road over the years. But most from the recent guided tour. To follow our walks along Göta Landsväg you have maps and information here at Wikipedia:
Gullmarsplan:We took the tram to the station Gullmarsplan. The guided tour started just hundred meters from this station. In the background you see the old mill Skanskvarn. It's a mill where they made corks among other things, they have also moved the mill in the 19th. More information about Skanskvarn at Wikipedia:
My father's sister had her dinner at that mill after her got married. First we go in the direction to the city, it's here the guided tour starts. But Göta Landsväg has its origin at Slussen in the inner city. Here we see old houses along the road. One of Stockholm's customs houses was close to this place, it had the the name Skanstull. With Skans means a defense forth and tull means custom. If I'm correct this house was the Inn Höjden at 18th. Here is one very well written page about old Göta Landsväg:
I come back about these houses when I know something about them. This is the road Göta Landsväg where it comes from Skanstull in the city. Kolerakyrkogården:Koleraa Cemetery, this was a big cemetery for poor an unknown people, later used as koleraa cemtery. They have moved the tumbs to one small corner. You find that corner if you follow the walkway you see here. More information about Kolerakyrkogården at Wikipedia:
The tunnel under the road Nynäsvägen. At his park was ones another inn. The street's name is Skansbacken. |

We leave this place and walk through the tunnel we saw on the photo earlier. :
Göta Landsväg follow the modern road Huddingevägen. A tunnel under the road take us to a place where Göta Landsväg is almost preserved, but first we have something to see at this place.
This avenue is told to be where the old road was once. The crossing between the streets Huddingevägen and Bolidenvägen. Just right of the white house on the other side continue the road. The street Skulptörvägen. We are now crossing Bolindersvägen and continue on the other side. Then we also leave Gullmarsplan and come to Årsta.
