Boat tour to Gozo island, day 5: |
Sliema:To this morning we have bought a boat ticket for a tour to the island Gozo. The boat waiting for us just across the street.
Warm weather and we can sit outside on the top deck and have beautiful view over harbor of Sliema. Here we round the Fort Tigne, we never visited it. Strange because we only had 800 meter to walk to it.
Bugibba:On the way to Gozo we stopped by in Bugibba to pick up more passengers.

Pinu:First stop at the basilica Ta Pinu, it's relative new, built 1932.
Fontana:Next stop at Fontana and a visit to a handicraft market.

We found a well with pouring water. There two of them on each side of the road. One with a sign to not drink the water. We could also read they still use them to washing their cloths. A local farmer fill his buckets with water. He said something to us, but it was in maltesian language and we didn't understand.
Victoria:The last stop was in the city Victoria, we got more than a hour to walk around. We set the course to the Cittadella. Theatre Astra.

Kunsill Lokali Rabat.
Now we have found the way up to the Cittadella. |
|
Breath take view over the landscape. The entrance to the Cittadella. We didn't have the time to go inside, now back to the bus.
Passing by some nice alleys with stores and cafes. If I remember correct we got a glass of these Gozo wine at a restaurant in Sliema.
Bought a bread on the move. |
Here at the bus stop they also have a market. Comino island:Now back on the boat again, close to Gozo is the island Comino, we have already passed it on the way out to Gozo. Now we shall stop here. It's not very strange that this place is called the Blue Lagoon, the blue color comes from the limestone. On the small island Kemmunett opposite to us we saw a big ruin, haven't figure out what building it has been here yet. Today it was windy and for some not so easy to enter the island, the crew assist.
We where protected!

Blue Lagoon. This was the last stop on the tour before going back to Sliema. Once again we had a very pleasant day and the weather was with us, however a bit windy. On the way home we came in contact with two retired Canadian teachers, they had a four week vacation at Malta and was very nice to talk to. This day was also the last time we saw Dave and his wife from Florida staying at the same hotel as we did. He got some extra time because the flight was delayed and he planned to use that time for a walk in Valletta, we hope he had a nice day. Always when we travel we get some new nice friends, some of them we still are in contact with.
