3, Hub center rings special designed for 5 mm spacer:Now I have learned something about hub rings. I also noticed that the 10 mm spacers at the front wheels I have are too thick, better with the 5 mm spacer. But the 5 mm spacer have a very big hole in center and nothing support it to center it. With my new skills I now 3D-print a prototype of a special designed hub ring that fit this 5 mm spacer. 3D-printed hub ring:My own hub ring direct out from the 3D-printer. The design is that it can center not only the wheel but also the spacer which is a little bit special. Inner hole center it to the hub of the car, first outer ring center it to the wheel and the second outer ring center it to the spacer. The 5 mm spacer doesn't have any hub on itself, it's not possible with this thin spacer. This special designed hub ring fits inside the spacer to center it. The other end fits into the wheel, this is my old wheel that I later shall replace with something similar that I have at the rear axle. With the 5 mm spacer in place too it looks like this. The spacer is of a multi bolt pattern design. The weight of it is very low and will not get the wheels in unbalance if it's not perfect centered. But of course I want it perfect. It's important to clean the surfaces from dirt, otherwise it will not fit perfect.
Note: With the hub ring installed on the hub without the 5 mm spacer, the disk is 6 mm thick where the wheel bolt is. I found it easier to install the hub ring and the spacer on the hub and after that install the wheel. When installing the wheel and wheel bolts, don't forget to count how many revolutions the bolt rotate into the hub's threads, at least 6 revolutions for these kind of bolts, otherwise you need longer bolts. If the bolts are very long as this bolt is and not threaded all the way it cause serious problem too. Other cars maybe have other bolts and other preferences. If you don't know exact how to do this, let the wheel shop do it for you ! It's about the car's and your safety !
Note: Installed on the old rear wheel, one of the bolts is a lock bolt. You can read about the wheel bolts on the next page.
